The story of Dunbar Associates was built on a foundation of dedication, community, and a commitment to excellence. Our journey began in 1993 with Rob's father, Dr. George R. Dunbar.

From Humble Beginnings to Corporate Leadership

George came from nothing. Raised during the Depression, he began working at the young age of 10-12, a constant throughout his life. He paid his own way through school, served in the Army, and eventually graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from U.C. Berkeley. His hard work and talent propelled him to a successful career at Westinghouse, where he rose to become a top executive. He then went on to lead large divisions in Connecticut, a state he grew to love and where he built his family.

Throughout his career, George never forgot his roots. He believed in giving back to the community and instilled those values in his approach to business.

A Vision for Municipal Excellence

Inspired by George established Dunbar Associates in 1993. Driven by a vision of running municipalities like well-managed corporations, the firm took on the challenge of revolutionizing municipal management. Their focus on efficiency and fiscal responsibility helped over 20 municipalities become self-sustaining without burdening their budgets.

Evolving with Our Clients' Needs

Over time, Dunbar Associates grew and recognized a shift in priorities. As employee benefits and financial planning became increasingly important, the firm transitioned in 2007 to offer comprehensive financial services. This evolution reflects our core value of adapting to our clients' needs.
